Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>A 53-year-old Karoi woman has taken her neighbour to the police after assaulting her in a dispute over cattle that had trespassed and destroyed the woman\u2019s maize.<\/p>\n

Pindula News understands this was not the first time the cattle trespassed, prompting the woman, Sipiwe Kasora, to confront her neighbour.<\/p>\n

Upon arrival, Kasora met Denford Nyadzo who is a member of the family that owns the cattle and confronted him asking him to keep their cattle.<\/p>\n

Denford, who is about 23 years, allegedly told her that he was on duty to herd the cattle adding that his elder brother was the one supposed to be herding on that particular day.<\/p>\n

Kasora\u2019s son, Hardnocks Usayiwevhu, says the response infuriated his mom who reminded Denford that he was part of the family and that she did not care about who was on duty to herd the cattle or not.<\/p>\n

Denford reportedly responded by saying Kasora was a madwoman. The verbal warfare is said to have continued and Denford then assaulted her leaving her with a sore head.<\/p>\n

Kasora, who once suffered a stress-related illness a decade ago, is now complaining about a headache.<\/p>\n

The matter was reported to the Village head and to the police leading to Denford\u2019s arrest on Friday.<\/p>\n

The incident was confirmed by the village head, Nelson Chamunyonga who said Kasora was seriously assaulted. Said the village head:<\/p>\n

Nyadzo family\u2019s cattle have for a long period of time now been plundering Usayiwevhu\u2019s crops. Kasora is the one who has been chasing them away. The matter was even reported to us. So on this eventful day, she drove the cattle to Nyadzo\u2019s family and Denford assaulted her badly. The matter is now in the hands of the police. I will summon them after the case has been finalised. As neighbours, we should do better.<\/p>\n

Pindula News got in touch with the accused, Denford who also confirmed the incident. He told this reporter:<\/p>\n

It\u2019s true that my cow destroyed her crops in their field located near a grazing area. I don\u2019t deny it, it\u2019s an offence. So she brought the cow fuming over the matter. She said she wanted to take my cattle and deliberately drive them into my fields in retaliation but I said she can\u2019t do that. I urged her to report the matter to the village head or tell me a fine she wanted but she refused. This would not be the first time for her to do so because in the past my cattle also destroyed her crops and she drove them into my fields. I resisted and she grabbed me and started assaulting me. I grabbed her and we both fell to the ground resulting in her sustaining injuries. She then reported me to the police for assaulting her.<\/p>\n

The case was supposed to be heard last Saturday at Karoi Magistrates\u2019 court but was postponed to the 26th of May.<\/p>\n
