Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>ZBC chief executive officer Adelaide Chikunguru reportedly stormed out of the general staff meeting she had called for on Tuesday after workers boycotted in protest over a new employee grading system she recently introduced.<\/p>\n

The controversial system, known as Patterson Grading System, was introduced last month, making a departure from the Parommes Grading System which was being used for years.<\/p>\n

Chikunguru introduced the system last month, causing a huge uproar among workers.<\/p>\n

Sources told NewZimbabwe.com that Chikunguru called the meeting after massive disgruntlement over the new system, which they say ignores core business workers and prioritises supporting staff. A senior employee at ZBC said:<\/p>\n

People have a lot of grievances here\u2026<\/p>\n

She walked out of the meeting after very few workers turned up. As soon as she walked into the canteen, she started to demand why there was such a low turnout. She particularly was not happy with the staff based at Radio Zimbabwe Studios in Mbare which had no representation at all\u2026<\/p>\n

Another employee who attended the meeting said people are not happy with Chikunguru\u2019s leadership style. The source added that Chikunguru imposes her ideas adding that she did not consult workers when she introduced the new grading system.<\/p>\n

It was alleged in April that Chikunguru ordered the disbandment of all ZBC WhatsApp groups and all unofficial communication channels, but she denied the allegations.<\/p>\n

Last month, this reporter interacted with some workers at ZBC who lamented over the senior management\u2019s lack of concern about their welfare and condition of service.<\/p>\n
