Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has declared Chenjerai Mumbire (ZANU PF) the duly-elected councillor for Ward 21 of Masvingo Rural District Council following elections that were held on 25 June.<\/p>\n

In another development, ZEC has cancelled by-elections for Manyame Rural District Council Wards 1 and 8 after the rescission of the recall of the incumbents by their sponsoring party. ZEC said in a statement:<\/p>\n

IT is hereby notified, for general information that following the conduct of the by-election held on 25 June 2022 in Ward 21 of Masvingo Rural District Council, Mumbire Chenjerai of the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU PF) party was duly elected Councillor effective from the date of the election.<\/p>\n

It is further notified that the advertised vacancies for Manyame Rural District Council Wards 1 and 8 are no longer in existence following the rescission of the recall of the incumbents by their sponsoring party.<\/p>\n

Accordingly, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission advises that all electoral processes in relation to the advertised by-elections have been cancelled with immediate effect.<\/p>\n
