Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>CCC says it is not focused on the political \u201ctheatrics\u201d taking place in ZANU PF in reference to the ruling party welcoming back self-exiled former senior members, Jonathan Moyo and Patrick Zhuwao after they issued a public apology.<\/p>\n

Moyo and Zhuwao, who left the country in 2017 following the \u201cmilitary-assisted transition\u201d that ended the late former president Robert Mugabe\u2019s 37-year-rule, apologised to \u201cZANU PF members\u201d for supporting the Nelson Chamisa-led CCC and calling for the ruling party\u2019s removal from power.<\/p>\n

CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said the opposition party is not interested in what is happening in ZANU PF and it was solely focused on working on winning the next general elections scheduled for 2023. Said Mahere:<\/p>\n

A complete non-event that is wholly irrelevant to the task we have at hand.<\/p>\n

Our goal is to win Zimbabwe for change. The continued confusion, grubby deals and theatrics by ZANU PF are of no interest to us whatsoever.<\/p>\n

We are preparing to win big in 2023 so we deliver freedom, dignity and prosperity for Zimbabweans.<\/p>\n

ZANU PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa said the ruling party is willing to readmit Moyo and Zhuwao who have lived outside the country since the 2017 military coup.<\/p>\n

Moyo, Zhuwao and other G40 members fell out of favour with ZANU PF at the height of factional fights in the party in 2017 which resulted in Mugabe\u2019s ouster.<\/p>\n

G40 was a group of ZANU PF politicians that was believed to be working against President Emmerson Mnangagwa of the Lacoste faction succeeding Mugabe as president of Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n

The Lacoste faction prevailed, albeit, with the help of the military which forced the aged Mugabe to step down resulting in Mnangagwa taking over leadership of both the party and country and G40 kingpins fleeing the country.<\/p>\n
