THE divorce row between late President Robert Mugabe\u2019s daughter Bona and estranged husband Simba Chikore has exposed part of the mega riches of the long-serving ruler who was toppled by his lieutenants in the 2017 military coup.<\/p>\n

The authoritarian then died two years later in Singapore aged 95.<\/p>\n

Bona Mugabe filed for divorce in March this year saying the marriage had irretrievably broken down; the couple married in 2014 at a lavish ceremony attended by regional leaders.<\/p>\n

Mugabe\u2019s only daughter had requested that the High Court deals with the property issues separate from the divorce at a later date and demanded US$2,700 from Chikore in monthly support for each of their three children.<\/p>\n

She is also seeking full custody of the children with Chikore granted access every alternate weekend.<\/p>\n

However, in his response, Chikore has exposed the Mugabe\u2019s as multiple farm owners, in addition to a vast portfolio of urban land along with a mansion in Dubai.<\/p>\n

Chikore his huge list of co-owned property in just a drop in the ocean compared to what Bona owns separately.<\/p>\n

\u201cDefendant (Chikore) contributed to acquiring the properties acquired through his savings from his former jobs as a pilot and the farming venture,\u201d read Chikore\u2019s papers before the High Court.<\/p>\n

Chikore insists he contributed to the property holding through earnings and donations from his father-in-law as well as for work and special assignments done on behalf of the veteran leader.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is much input through direct and indirect contribution wherein the defendant contributed to the assets, both movable and immovable, acquired during the subsistence of his marriage.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chikore concedes that the marriage has broken down but argues that it can be salvaged if the influence of third parties is removed as well as through counselling, family support.<\/p>\n

The two have not lived together for some nine months.<\/p>\n

Chikore in his counter-claim also says he acquired or was given shares or owns solely or jointly, through donations and or in inheritance, the following twenty-one (21) farms and properties:<\/p>\n

Chikore further claims that before and during the marriage he acquired or was given shares or owns solely or jointly, through donations and or in inheritance, a Rolls Royce car with a value of AED 2 900 000. The parties also acquired the following vehicles jointly;<\/p>\n
