Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Serbian national Kostadin Papic has expressed interest in becoming the head coach of Zimbabwe\u2019s senior men\u2019s football team, the Warriors. His representatives have confirmed that Papic, who has previously coached the Eswatini national team and South African clubs Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, submitted his application through Elite Sport Management Agency. His manager, Moses Muzumara, stated that Papic believes he can achieve a lot with the Zimbabwean team, having worked with Zimbabwean players such as Edelbert Dinha during his time at Pirates. Muzumara said:<\/p>\n

Kindly note that we have officially applied for our client, coach Kosta Papic for the role of Zimbabwe senior men\u2019s national team head coach. He was previously shortlisted the last time (Zdravko) Logarus\u030cic\u0301 was appointed. Having coached the likes of Edelbert Dinha at Pirates, for instance, he knows the quality and determination of the Zimbabwean players and believes he can achieve a lot with the team.<\/p>\n

Papic brings 14 years of coaching experience in Europe and has worked with various clubs across Africa.<\/p>\n

Zimbabwe has returned to international football following the recent lifting of an international ban on Zifa by FIFA. The ban was imposed due to government interference in football matters. The Warriors have been drawn against Nigeria, South Africa, Benin, Rwanda, and Lesotho in the World Cup qualifiers, set to begin in November. Additionally, the Warriors will participate in the African Nations Championships (CHAN). The normalisation committee, responsible for restoring stability in local football, will appoint a technical committee to conduct interviews and make recommendations for the Warriors\u2019 coach, with the announcement expected by the end of the month.<\/p>\n

Shepherd Murape, a former coach of Dynamos, has also been linked to the Warriors\u2019 job, although it is unclear if he has applied.<\/p>\n
