Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Twelve ZANU PF supporters were imprisoned on Thursday for their alleged involvement in public violence at the party\u2019s headquarters in Harare.<\/p>\n

They had participated in a demonstration demanding the dismissal of ZANU PF\u2019s Harare Youth Chairperson, Emmanuel Mahachi. The accused appeared before Harare Magistrate Appollonia Marutya and were remanded in custody. They will return to court on Friday for a bail hearing.<\/p>\n

What Transpired:<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the State, on September 19, the twelve individuals gathered at the ZANU PF headquarters, where they chanted party slogans and held placards calling for Mahachi\u2019s removal. Despite police warnings to cease their activities, they continued to disrupt the peace. Their prepared charge sheet stated:<\/p>\n

The accused persons unlawfully… disturbed the peace, security or order of the public by chanting Zanu PF party slogans and chanting \u2018Mahachi must go,\u2019 \u2018Pasi neGwekwerere\u2019<\/p>\n

The suspects were arrested at the scene and subsequently detained at Harare Central police station. Alongside Melisa Master, the other individuals involved in the incident are Ireen Makuvire, Ernest Thuola, Tinashe Nheya, Prince Chatendeuka, Tafara Rusere, Edson Chabvuta, Larson Masenda, Rosewiter Munhava, Wellington Mutsvangwa, Blessed Kadumba, and Portia Mhishi.<\/p>\n

The court proceedings will determine the outcome of their case, including potential charges, penalties, and further legal actions.<\/p>\n
