Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>A Mutare man allegedly murdered his wife on infidelity suspicions and is now using her phone to frequently send text messages to his mother-in-law to make her believe that her daughter is alive and employed as a domestic worker in Chipinge.<\/p>\n

Stephen Musimwa is being linked to the murder of his wife, Gladys Manyaire (27), whose body was found lying in a stream in Mwaamba Village, under Chief Zimunya in January this year.<\/p>\n

The deceased\u2019s mother, Mrs Winnie Manyaire told officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) that she was frequently receiving text messages from the deceased\u2019s mobile number.<\/p>\n

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) acting spokesperson in Manicaland Province, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the development to The Manica Post<\/b>. He said:<\/p>\n

On December 29, 2023, the suspect communicated with the deceased through her mobile phone, requesting her to travel to Mutare on December 30, 2023, so that they could acquire a birth certificate for their child.
\nThe now deceased discussed the issue with her mother, Mrs Winnie Manyaire who advised her to proceed to Mutare as per the suspect\u2019s request.<\/p>\n

On December 30, 2023, Gladys left home proceeding to Mutare to meet Musimwa. That is the day she was last seen alive by her mother.<\/p>\n

On January 4, 2024, at about 8 am, her body was discovered in a stream which connects to the Musengezi River in Mwaamba Village by a 10-year-old boy who was looking for their turkeys.<\/p>\n

He rushed and told his parents who reported the matter to the police. Police attended the scene and recovered the body which was lying in a stream in an advanced state of decomposition.<\/p>\n

The body was dressed in a blue jean skirt, maroon top and maroon and white jersey. The victim\u2019s sandals were discovered about five metres from the body.<\/p>\n

Cut injuries were observed on the deceased\u2019s left-hand fingers. Injuries on Gladys\u2019 body could not be established due to the advanced state of decomposition. A kitchen knife was recovered about 3,5m from Glady\u2019s body.<\/p>\n

Asst. Insp. Chinyoka said Mrs Manyaire was interviewed by the police, and indicated that she was frequently receiving text messages from someone using the late Glady\u2019s cellphone line, 0779341981. He said:<\/p>\n

The suspect purports to be the deceased and working in Chipinge as a domestic worker.<\/p>\n

Mrs Manyaire also stated that she is receiving text messages from the suspect\u2019s line 0785086705, checking on his son.<\/p>\n

The suspect also texted the deceased\u2019s mother, telling her that Gladys was not answering his calls.<\/p>\n

Mrs Manyaire further stated that the suspect arrived at her homestead on January 3, 2024, around 1 AM to leave a smartphone for his kid to play games.<\/p>\n

After going through Mrs Manyaire\u2019s text messages, it is suspected that the suspect is the one who is communicating with her using the deceased\u2019s line.<\/p>\n

There is consistency between the sequence and nature of texts from the deceased and suspect\u2019s lines to Mrs Manyaire\u2019s phone.<\/p>\n

Asst Insp Chinyoka appealed to members of the public with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect to contact their nearest police station.<\/p>\n
