{"id":97770,"date":"2024-08-19T23:44:01","date_gmt":"2024-08-19T21:44:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/childrens-home-boss-acquitted-of-rape"},"modified":"2024-08-20T01:48:30","modified_gmt":"2024-08-19T23:48:30","slug":"childrens-home-boss-acquitted-of-rape","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/childrens-home-boss-acquitted-of-rape","title":{"rendered":"Children\u2019s home boss acquitted of rape"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>THE Harare Regional Court has acquitted an operations assistant at an orphanage who was being accused of raping a 13-year-old orphan at the facility.<\/p>\n<p>Lloyd Josamu (31) of Adlyn Road in Marlborough had pleaded not guilty to indecent assault and two counts of rape.<\/p>\n<p>Josamu, who was being represented by Liveours Mundieta, was acquitted after a full trial with magistrate Sandra Mupindu ruling that the witnesses\u2019 testimonies were inconsistent.<\/p>\n<p>Mupindu also took into account the defence filed by Josamu that his girlfriend who testified in the matter had submitted inconsistent evidence.<\/p>\n<p>The court heard that Josamu, an operations assistant at the Shalom Children\u2019s Home, summoned the alleged victim to his room some time in January last year.<\/p>\n<p>It was alleged that she entered the room to find him watching pornography.<\/p>\n<p>The court heard he then allegedly ordered the victim to touch his privates while he caressed her before raping her without using protection.<\/p>\n<p>The State had alleged that he threatened the complainant not to disclose the matter to anyone, saying he would have her removed from the children\u2019s home.<\/p>\n<p>The court heard that the complainant kept quiet until January 22, 2024, when she attended counselling sessions organised at the children\u2019s centre.<\/p>\n<p>She reported the matter and the operations assistance was arrested.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About Zimbabwe Follow Africa-Press<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Zimbabwe.
