Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>FORMER Norton legislator Temba Mliswa\u2019s daughter, M\u2019diwa Mliswa Chanetsa, has been acquitted of a charge related to drug possession after full trial.<\/p>\n

Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo acquitted M\u2019diwa, who was arrested together with Tawanda Chigudu.<\/p>\n

In her ruling, Moyo ruled that Mliswa and her accomplice denied allegations, arguing that the police claimed that there were drugs in the house occupied by four male adults, who are Chigudu\u2019s brothers.<\/p>\n

Moyo said Mliswa had also argued, successfully that she was merely visiting the house.<\/p>\n

The magistrate ruled out the charge of drug possession after nothing was found in Mliswa\u2019s handbag or in Chigudu\u2019s room.<\/p>\n

Moyo further ruled that State witnesses failed to dispute that there were other people who resided at the house where the drugs were found.<\/p>\n

Prosecutor Mandirasa Chigumira had alleged that on February 22 this year, detectives from CID Drugs Harare received information that the Mliswa and Chigudu were in possession of drugs at a house in Avonlea, Harare.<\/p>\n

The detectives visited the house and conducted a search and seized one sachet of crystal meth from the dining room under a sofa.<\/p>\n

M\u2019diwa and Chigudu were subsequently arrested.<\/p>\n

A preliminary field test on the seized suspected crystal meth was carried out and it tested positive.<\/p>\n
