{"id":99399,"date":"2024-10-10T11:29:04","date_gmt":"2024-10-10T09:29:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/back-off-from-parking-duties-nduna-told"},"modified":"2024-10-10T13:34:12","modified_gmt":"2024-10-10T11:34:12","slug":"back-off-from-parking-duties-nduna-told","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/back-off-from-parking-duties-nduna-told","title":{"rendered":"Back off from parking duties, Nduna told"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>FORMER Zanu PF legislator for Chegutu West, Dexter Nduna, has been forced to eat humble pie in his attempted hostile takeover of vehicle parking management in Harare and other cities.<\/p>\n<p>A company linked to Nduna, Team Chapter, was planning to grab vehicle parking management from Harare\u2019s City Parking starting on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>City Parking has emerged as the Harare City Council\u2019s cash cow, with Nduna now angling for its takeover.<\/p>\n<p>Nduna was recently appointed Zanu PF resource mobilisation committee chairperson.<\/p>\n<p>There were advertisements on social media by Nduna\u2019s Team Chapter recently calling on jobless youths to pay varying amounts of money to be trained and recruited as vehicle parking marshals.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Nduna announced on social media that his Team Chapter marshals would be in charge of vehicle parking management in Harare.<\/p>\n<p>Sources said Nduna was later ordered to back off from any attempted grab of vehicle parking management in Harare and other cities.<\/p>\n<p>NewsDay is reliably informed that he was summoned by members of the Central Intelligence Organisation.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Nduna issued a statement on X (formerly Twitter) apologising for his shenanigans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have pulled down the tweet that had deployment of Team Chapter operatives for the 7th of October because it hadn\u2019t followed the law to its fullest,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe process of vetting is not yet done. I\u2019m sorry for the tensions that this tweet would have created.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a Press statement on Saturday, City Parking warned motorists against being duped by Nduna\u2019s Team Chapter marshals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCity of Harare has not engaged Nduna or any other company or individuals to collect parking fees,\u201d City Parking said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe threat by Nduna to disrupt parking operations is not a threat to City Parking only, but to businesses and property laws and shall be met with law enforcement and legal action.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no place for anarchy, hooliganism and lawlessness in Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is unfortunate that, left unaddressed, Nduna\u2019s behaviour taints the image of the government and the political party he purports to be part of.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Zanu PF director for information Farai Marapira was not reachable for comment yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Marapira recently told NewsDay that the ruling party had not deployed Nduna to hijack vehicle parking management from City Parking.<\/p>\n<p>City Parking, however, said Nduna\u2019s actions were a turnoff to investors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNduna has no locus standi or legal basis to make such proclamations and, as such, we urge the public to ignore his baseless inflammatory utterances,\u201d City Parking said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe caution members of the public not to risk their money by making payments to Nduna, his company or agents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Bulawayo City Council also shut the door on Nduna\u2019s manoeuvres to hijack vehicle parking management from Trendy Three Investments (TTI).
