Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>A 27-year-old man from Shurugwi, Midlands province, has been slapped with an 18-year jail term for killing his 94-year-old grandmother accusing her of bewitching other family members.<\/p>\n

In a statement on Wednesday, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPAZ) said Takudzwa Mugariri of Maroza village went to the deceased\u2019s home on February 3, alleging she had cast a spell on family members.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe accused person burned the now deceased\u2019s clothes and traditional medicine before he struck her with a wooden log several times in the head, face, buttocks and back leading to her death\u201d, said the NPAZ.<\/p>\n

A police report was made, leading to his arrest,trial and subsequent imprisonment.<\/p>\n

In a similar case, three brothers Zamani Ndlovu, Mehluli Ndlovu and Mpilwenzima of Gweru were sentenced to 30 years imprisonment each after they were found guilty of killing a 31-year-old man.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhilst drinking, the now deceased referred to the accused persons as his brothers-in-law since one of the accused persons had a baby with the now deceased\u2019s sister,\u201d said NPAZ.<\/p>\n

This sparked outrage, leading the accused to brutally assault the now deceased, inflicting multiple blows.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey also struck him with a brick and stabbed him with a knife on the thigh, leading to the deceased\u2019s death,\u201d the NPAZ revealed.<\/p>\n
