Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Government has hired Spanish lawyers to defend the interests of the State, related to the transfer of the body of former President José Eduardo dos Santos, who died in Spain on July 8, due to illness, said Friday, in Luanda, the -speaker of the National Commission of Funerals, Marcy Lopes.

When informing the press about the next steps of the funeral process, Marcy Lopes reaffirmed that there is a delegation in Spain, appointed, superiorly by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to monitor the case and has been providing all the documentary support and official information to the lawyers hired by the Angolan government.

“The Angolan State cannot practice in Spain and a Spanish lawyer was hired to represent it in this process. We are waiting for the judicial notification of the decision that will determine this process”, he clarified.

The also Minister of Territory Administration stated that the Commission’s work will only end with the Spanish Court’s judicial decision, recalling that, within the scope of the funeral program, the Government has created public spaces in the 18 provinces for the presentation of condolences until tomorrow.
