Africa-Press – Angola. The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, addressed “sincere congratulations” to the Head of State, João Lourenço, following the victory of the General Elections of 24 August, stressing the desire that the new mandate “contribute to the development of constructive cooperation bilateral”.
” Russian-Angolan relations are based on ancient traditions of friendship and mutual respect; I hope that your activity in the leadership of the State will continue to contribute to the development of constructive bilateral cooperation in various areas”, reads Vladimir’s message. Putin released by the Russian Embassy in Luanda.
“This undoubtedly responds to the root interests of our peoples, and goes towards the strengthening of security and stability on the African continent”, adds the Russian President.
In another message, the Government of Nicaragua addressed congratulations “to the brothers of the MPLA”, wishing them “great success in this difficult time in which we live as a human family, always aware that the struggle continues and the victories are certain”.
The National Electoral Commission (CNE) declared João Lourenço as President of the Republic and Esperança da Costa as Vice-President of the Republic, after releasing the final results of the General Elections of 24 August, which confirmed the MPLA as the winning party, with 3,209,429 votes, corresponding to 51.17 percent of the valid votes.
