Africa-Press – Angola. Historian Neto Baltazar Vaherlema ​​highlighted, this Monday, in Cunene province, the contribution of President António Agostinho Neto to the construction of a one, indivisible, peaceful and developed Angola.

The historian, spoke about Neto’s legacy, in a lecture framed in the centenary of Agostinho Neto, to be celebrated on the 17th of this month, emphasizing the initiatives of the first President of Angola, in the fight for the proclamation of Independence and in the solving people’s problems.

According to Neto Baltazar Vaherlema, with the motto “the most important thing is to solve the people’s problems”, the also founder of the Angolan Nation laid the foundations for the implementation of policies aimed at improving the living conditions of the populations.

He urged the new leaders to look to Agostinho Neto as a source of inspiration and a model to follow, in meeting the basic needs of the communities. For him, Neto’s achievements transcend the borders of Angola.

The event was attended by members of the municipal administration of Cahama, religious and traditional entities.

Born on September 17, 1922, in the village of Kaxicane, in the municipality of Icolo e Bengo, Agostinho Neto was, among others, a doctor and a poet. He died on September 10, 1979, in Moscow.
