Africa-Press – Angola. The Portuguese-Speaking Medical Community (CMLP) advocates improvements in the mobility of doctors in the Member States, especially between the PALOP and Portugal, so that professionals can “circulate more quickly and improve their training”.

The permanent secretary of the CMLP, a specialized body of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), Francisco Pavão, told Lusa yesterday that it is of greater importance that internships are allowed more easily at the regional bloc level.

“And, obviously, the mobility of health professionals, particularly doctors, between these countries and especially between the PALOP (Portuguese-speaking African Countries) with Portugal, is a concern that the medical community has been demonstrating to our patients for many years. rulers”, he pointed out.

Whether in Portugal or in other Portuguese-speaking countries, he stressed, there must be an articulation so that doctors can do internships between three and six months and improve themselves in several areas.

“Professional internships among CPLP doctors, especially in the areas of Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Surgery, Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases , are important”, he stressed.

The chairman of the Order of Doctors of Angola, Elisa Gaspar, recently referred to the need for this mobility of professionals.

For doctor Francisco Pavão, the CPLP Mobility Agreements, already ratified by the member states, should contribute to the regularization of visas, which will be of great help.

Because both from Angola to Portugal and vice-versa, he justified, “a great deal of articulation and bureaucracy is still necessary in issuing a visa for a longer stay”.

“And the truth is that we health professionals, especially doctors, have this enormous professional particularity which is to constantly improve our profession, hence our concern to demonstrate that there is much to do for faster and more consistent circulation”, he defended.
