Africa-Press – Angola. The anthology “Between Photos and Texts”, resulting from the compilation of 46 photos and an equal number of texts shown in the “Textualidades” session, of the 3rd edition of the exhibition “Traços de Luanda”, is presented today, at 18:00, at Fundação Arte e Cultura , on Cape Island.
The anthology consists of photos by Neana Sabu, Raul da Silva, Kenned Flautas Negras and Nelson do Nascimento, portrayed with texts by José Luís Mendonça, Elisandra Manuel, Bel Neto, António Paciência, João Papelo, Cíntia Gonçalves, Lopes Baptista, Astronaut and Irene A’mosi.
According to the press release, “Entre Fotos e Textos” is an extension of “Traços de Luanda”, a daring project, carried out by restless young people, who “chose” to listen, notice, give voice (visibility) to the place that means so much to you, says so much, but so little is heard among the souls it welcomes.
“For four years, the project has been praising the city, celebrating it through the annual exhibition ‘Traços de Luanda’, which, in addition to paintings, photographs, texts and audiovisual content, provides the interested public with a space for conversation, debate , of reflection around the peculiarities, problems and challenges of the city”, reads the note.
“Luanda between Photos and Texts” testifies to Kianda’s stillness, the memories, marks of an almost forgotten history, the battles of the days, the persistence, the noise of sustenance, the toil, the wandering of dreams, the survival of culture through reinvention of being, “unstandardized”, a certain João Andante, whose feet no longer complain about the burning ground, the concrete armed with silence and the crowd at the water’s edge and in the informality of commerce; contrasts that define it as a beautiful, diverse, generous city. Among the intricacies of the intricate body, one can witness the adaptation of generations to the variation of times.
