Belarus and Algeria congratulate re-elected Head of State

Africa-Press – Angola. The Head of State of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, congratulated the reappointment of João Lourenço to the post of President of the Republic of Angola.

In a statement that Jornal de Angola had access to on Tuesday, Lukashenko underlines the importance of the victory of the MPLA and its leader in the General Elections.

The Belarusian Head of State, quoted by his Press Service and repeated by the Angolan Embassy in that European country, emphasizes that the results of the vote clearly attest to the high level of confidence of the Nation in the direction of Angola’s development.

“I hope that the relations of friendship and mutual respect, which formed the basis of the interaction between Belarus and Angola in the last century, will contribute to unlocking the full potential of bilateral cooperation between Minsk and Luanda in the commercial, economic, scientific, technical, cultural areas” , humanitarian and other spheres”, he adds.

On the other hand, the Head of State of Algeria, Abdel Majid Tabun, also congratulated João Lourenço yesterday: “On the occasion of your re-election as President of the sister Republic of Angola, I am pleased to present you, on behalf of the people and the Government of Algeria, and in my own name, my warmest congratulations and best wishes for success in your noble task at the service of the people, as well as in achieving Angola’s progress and prosperity”.

In a note, the Algerian statesman adds that he trusts President João Lourenço, as a sign of gratitude, for his wisdom and political experience, as a leader committed to serving his country.

Abdel Majid Tabun also expresses his willingness and availability to work, with his Angolan counterpart, in consolidating the historical ties of friendship and solidarity between the two countries, as well as strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields, in order to promote and respond to the aspirations of the two brother peoples.

The President of Algeria also wants to focus on promoting and deepening political consultation between the two countries, on regional and international issues of common interest, and the unification of efforts within the African Union, with a view to defending justice, incorporating the goals of peace, security, stability and sustainable development and integration across the African continent.
