An atmosphere of expectation just in time for the investiture of the Head of State

Africa-Press – Angola. Citizens from various social strata made it known, this Tuesday, that they are waiting with great anticipation for the inauguration speech of the President of the Republic. The Head of State of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embalo, one of the guests of President João Lourenço, is already in the country.

Thus, the speech to be delivered tomorrow by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, during the inauguration ceremony for the second term, in Praça da República, should exalt the unity among all Angolans, regardless of party color, he defended, yesterday, in Luanda, the jurist and academic Albano Pedro.

“The President will have to make a speech to harmonize the people, so that they feel comforted”, he stressed in an interview with Jornal de Angola, stressing that the moment will be opportune to reassure all citizens on this matter.

Regarding public policies, the academic defends the announcement of new visions of governance, which will reassure families. In this regard, Albano Pedro suggests a “courageous” revolution in the economic field, which involves decentralizing the economy, deconcentrating the State’s economic power in favor of the private sector, evaluating the fight against corruption and a reform that looks, above all, to the inclusion of exempt civil society.

“It is important that governance is open to a proactive civil society, which works and collaborates for the realization of the public interest”, he stressed. For Albano Pedro, this same civil society should be concerned with collaborating with public authorities and helping to multiply their efforts, where the State cannot reach. Another path pointed out by the academic, which he considers crucial, is the adoption of the type of economy that the country should develop from now on.

For an economic turnaround in the country, Albano Pedro said it was necessary to seriously think about the issue of access to land, as, in his opinion, it is a central element of access to wealth. He said that businessmen face many difficulties in growth, above all, to obtain financial credit from the bank.

“Banks do not grant credit to an individual whose house was built on land that does not belong to him or of which he only has the right to surface, which is a precarious right with a deadline”, he stressed. He also defends a serious commitment to the creation and encouragement of cooperatives.

According to the academic, cooperatives in the country would be a great mechanism for the development of poor populations with precarious knowledge in relation to certain commercial or industrial techniques. “In other countries, cooperatives are responsible for generating millions of jobs”, stressed Albano Pedro, who suggests the creation of technical and technological conditions geared towards industry and agricultural activities, in order to allow a greater growth of these sectors.
