Africa-Press – Angola. The inhabitants of the province of Zaire are looking forward to the inauguration, today, of João Lourenço as President of the Republic of Angola, after his re-election, on 24 August, for the second term (2022/2027), during which they look forward to implementing the governance programme.

The coordinator of the Traditional Authorities of Lumbu (Mbanza Kongo), Afonso Mendes told Jornal de Angola that he believes in the fulfillment of the promises made during the visit to Zaire of the MPLA leader, João Lourenço, taking into account the wishes of the local population and not only .

“We are happy with the re-election and we are also convinced that all anxieties of what the President promised to the province of Zaire and to Angolans have been resolved”, he added.

For the traditional authority, for the present term, President João Lourenço committed to be the supervisor of all the works announced last June, during the visit to the World Heritage city.

“It is in our memories when he was here and he said that he will be the supervisor of all the projects that will be implemented here in the province of Zaire. The President knows that with this second term we are expecting that he will fulfill his promise. The popular saying goes: a promise is a debt. Therefore, we are looking forward to placing Zaire at the top of your governance priorities. We want promises to start here in Zaire”, he recalled.

As a citizen, Afonso Mendes hopes to hear, today, in the first speech, the ways to solve the problem of youth unemployment, the lack of housing, quality schools, the construction of a university and roads, to satisfy the desires of the local youth.

The vicar general of the Catholic Church in Mbanza Kongo, Malaquias Justina André, is also of the opinion that the promises made during the electoral campaign will be fulfilled, with emphasis on the construction of roads in the province and the creation of jobs for youth.

“The Mbanza Kongo-Kuimba, Mbanza Kongo-Nóqui, Mbanza Kongo-Madimba, Kuimba-Serra de Kanda, Mpala-Lufico, Soyo-Pedra do Feitiço and others roads must be built within the scope of the promises made during the visit to Mbanza Kongo, to allow the flow of agricultural production that is spoiled in several locations. This time, in this second term, we want you to see the reality of the inhabitants of Zaire and the rest of the country”, he appealed.

Citizen Engrácia Bula, 35, also expects the fulfillment of the promises made by President João Lourenço: “I hope that there will be improvements in the province of Zaire and not only in the country in general, because all Angolans are expecting that in this second term the President of the Republic fulfills all that he promised in all the provinces where he passed in the electoral campaign. The Angolan people followed and we are all attentive to what the President will do. We wait for the conclusion of the General Hospital of Zaire, the construction of the International Airport, the construction of a university and the rehabilitation and construction of roads in the province, more drinking water for the inhabitants, the construction of the centralities of Mbanza Kongo and Soyo”.

For his part, public servant Esteves Domingos Moreno, 24, is looking forward to hearing in the inauguration speech of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, the ways to implement the program presented to voters.
