The Transport Collective Urbano de Luanda (TCUL) company recently carried out a voluntary blood donation campaign, at the Lucrécia Paim Maternity Hospital, in Luanda, as part of the activities carried out in October, called “Pink October”, in which the world shows solidarity with people suffering from breast and cervical cancer.
According to a press release sent yesterday to JA Online, the campaign, which had the motto: “Saving Lives is with Me Yes”, was an initiative of the Board of Directors, headed by Catarino César, who, in order to alert its employees and society in general about the importance of prevention and early diagnosis of Breast Cancer and Cervical Cancer.
He also appealed extensively for the collective of TCUL workers to join this feat, in which more than 60 workers responded positively to the cause with great satisfaction.
The head of the Social Action department, Imaculada Pedro, stressed that the choice of the Lucrécia Paím Maternity Hospital to carry out the activity was due to the fact that it is a central and specialist health unit.
For her part, the general director of the Lucrécia Paím Maternity Hospital, Lígia Alves, highlighted that the gesture of blood donation coming from TCUL, in the month of “Pink October”, in which all “we are committed to the prevention of cancers and are concerned about this cause, it is an asset for cancer patients, with cancer problems that need it, because they often have cancer and decompensate with anemia and when we give blood it absolutely helps to compensate for this deficit”.
