Africa-Press – Angola. The members of the Angolan Association of Publishers and School Books (ASSAELE), who participated in the 74th edition of the Frankfurt Book Fair, in Germany, were satisfied with the national presence in this world circuit of letters.
Formosa Pedro, a member of the delegation, in a note sent to our editorial office, said that the delegation was contacted by some publishers’ associations from other countries, namely from Brazil and Mozambique, who showed interest in partnerships and in the dissemination of works by Angolan authors in their countries.
ASSAELE’s stand had several works of Angolan literature on display, from children’s stories, poetry and novels, by authors such as Elsa Barber, Cremilda de Lima, Kanguimbu Ananás, Markita 50, Lopito Feijóo and Fragata de Morais, having received a large number of of visitors, among members of German universities and responsible for African literature collections.
The Angolan Association of School Book Publishers participated, for the first time, in the Frankfurt Book Fair, in Germany, which this year took place between the 19th and 23rd of this month, representing the publishers of Letras, Editora Moderna, Progresso Editora, Editora Popular, Editora Mensagem, Editora Tangente and Editora Laetida.
The Frankfurt Book Fair is the world’s largest exhibition dedicated to the publishing sector, aimed mainly at book professionals. Despite the fair’s stoppage for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the reopening this year had a large participation of countries, particularly African countries, where the presence of Angola was notorious.
ASSAELE thanks the Directorate Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Angola for the support provided, the Ministry of Education and all authors and publishers who make it possible to participate in this which is the largest International Book Fair.
