Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Territory Administration clarified, this Wednesday (26), to citizens all doubts about the electoral registration process through the helpline. Marcy Lopes answered several calls and answered questions such as who should update the electoral register, the citizen’s card, the flooding at the service stations, among others.

The holder of the Territory Administration portfolio explained that the major concerns raised during the conversation with citizens were related to the updating of the electoral register. “There are many people who continue to go to the BUAP to update the electoral register, even without having changed their place of residence since the last elections”, he stressed

He said that, through the helpline, the Ministry of Territorial Administration (MAT) has been correcting all the procedures that generate constraints and difficulties in the public service that is intended to be provided to citizens.
He indicated that, since the opening of the helpline (number 136) in November, MAT has already received eight thousand calls and the highest incidence rates are from citizens between 25 and 35 years old. “We will continue to provide a service of proximity to people through the Ministry of Territory Administration”, stressed the minister.
The line, he said, will be open until the last day of the electoral registration scheduled for 31 March. , according to Marcy Lopes, are the breaking of the internet signal in places with difficult access and health issues, among others, ensuring that the electoral registration process is credible and transparent and the aim is to provide a proximity and quality service to all voting citizens.

After having clarified the doubts of the citizen Inocêncio Félix João Cafundo, who called from the province of Bié, municipality of Cuito, Marcy Lopes reiterated that those who have not moved home do not need to update their voter registration.

“Only those who did not vote in the previous elections because they were underage and those people who changed their residence should update the electoral register”, he underlined, adding that those who live in the same place where they lived at the time of the 2017 elections do not need to update. the electoral register.

He also clarified that the citizen’s card is not used to vote and, therefore, citizens can process this document from April onwards, without the need to attend queues to update the electoral register. The citizen’s card, he indicated, serves only as the location of the residence and not for voting. “It will not be required to vote. People will vote with a voter card or Identity Card”, he explained.

The minister, in the same way, also spoke with Bernardo Quiwaya, from the province of Luanda, municipality of Talatona. The citizen questioned the waiting time at registration points and the disclosure of electoral rolls.Marcy Lopes said that the MAT is working on improving services so that the waiting time is reduced.

As for the availability of electoral rolls, the minister clarified that they are the responsibility of the National Electoral Commission (CNE) which is responsible for disseminating them. “When the time comes, the CNE will certainly explain to citizens how to consult electoral data”, he concluded.
