Africa-Press – Angola. The Mini-Summit for the Peace Plan in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the re-establishment of good relations with Rwanda began, this Wednesday afternoon, in Luanda, on the initiative of the Head of State, João Lourenço, within the framework of the Angolan mediation.
The summit, chaired by President João Lourenço, will be attended by the Head of State of the DRC, Félix Félix Tshisekedi, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Rwanda, representing President Paul Kagame.
For this meeting, João Lourenço also invited his counterpart from Burindi, Évariste Ndayishimiye, and the former President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, who are already in the Angolan capital.
Also attending the meeting were the Special Representative of the President of the African Union Commission and Head of the African Union Liaison Bureau in the DRC, Michelle Ndiaye, the Executive Secretary of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICRGL), João Caholo, and the Lieutenant General Nassone João, Commander of the Ad Hoc Verification Mechanism.
On the other hand, the main objective of this Summit in Luanda is to establish a calendar for the implementation of priority actions, with a view to the cessation of hostilities and the immediate withdrawal of negative M23 forces from occupied Congolese locations, and the coordination of *Processes from Luanda and Nairobi.
The Luanda meeting plans to produce a communiqué with the contribution of the parties involved in the conflict that opposes the DRC to Rwanda.
