Africa-Press – Angola. A total of 170 families, in the municipality of Cacolo, and 82, in Dala, Lunda-Sul, were left homeless as a result of the rain, which has been falling regularly since last week.
The most affected houses were those built on the water lines, said the administrator of Cacolo, José Txacandji. The administrator of Dala, Lote Moutinho, informed that the most affected neighborhoods were those of Muliata and Sete Maravilhas, outskirts of the main town, where the work of surveying the damage is still being carried out.
Due to the damage, the governor of Lunda-Sul, Daniel Neto, said he was in solidarity with the victims and would take the necessary steps to guarantee assistance to the injured. “It is a problem that is worrying the communities”.
The obstruction of water lines, with precarious buildings and in risk areas, is, for the ruler, one of the main problems of the administrations of these localities. “It is a chronic problem, recurrently ignored by the population”, he said, in addition to advancing that efforts are being made to transfer these residents to safe locations and social projects with better infrastructure.
“Apart from the phenomenon of invasion of spaces, most of the buildings erected are precarious and erected in disarray. It is necessary that these people heed the advice of the authorities, to avoid worse consequences”, he recalled.
