The Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas (MIREMPET) organizes on 22 February 2022, in the United Arab Emirates, the Investment Forum for the Saurimo Diamond Development Pole at Expo Dubai 2022, with the aim of attracting potential investors to the diamond cutting and cutting segment in Angola.
According to a statement that had access to, the in-person event, to be promoted by SODIAM, with the support of the New Jeweler International Media Group, also intends to value the investment made in the construction of the infrastructures of the Diamond Development Pole in Saurimo. (PDDS), as well as fulfilling the Government’s intention, in the short and medium term, to increase the cutting of rough diamonds produced in the country, from a total of nine million carats per year.
DUBAI 2022 mainly aims to attract companies specialized in the activity of cutting and cutting diamonds interested in investing in the country, so that they can build factories in the PDDS; make investors aware of the reality of the facilities, benefits and tax incentives of the free zone in which the PDDS will become; to make known the experience of making raw diamonds produced in the country available, destined for the cutting factories installed in Angola; and take advantage of the turntable that is Dubai, to communicate and present the opportunities generated with the PDDS.
It is intended to bring together up to 100 participants in person, by invitation, mostly investors in the evaluation, cutting and cutting of diamonds; experts in the cut diamonds market; cut diamond retailers; jewelers interested in building jewelry factories; suppliers of parts and support equipment for lapping factory machines; and maintenance service providers interested in investing in the Hub.
“DUBAI 2022 combines interests of the Government of Angola, SODIAM EP and takes place with the strategic partnership of the communication agency The New Jeweler”, underlines the document, adding that the event will be publicized among members of the jewelery industry, as well as taking advantage of promotional spaces in Angola at Expo Dubai 2020.
The PDDS was inaugurated by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, in August 2021, and currently houses three diamond cutting factories, a Training Center in diamond assessment and cutting (CEFOLAD), as well as a Professional Training Center for ENDIAMA EP The construction of three more cutting factories is under way.
The PDDS offers many investment opportunities and opens a new era for the dynamization and consolidation of the diamond cutting and polishing segment in Angola, with encouraging and promising perspectives.
