Luís Nunes, who was speaking during the end-of-year greetings ceremony, said that it was motivating for everyone to see projects come true with the desired quality,

However, he recalled that structures, means and equipment are worthless without human capital capable of putting them into operation, with discipline, technical knowledge and efficiency.

Therefore, he defended the continuous investment in the training of qualified staff capable of materializing the various actions.

“A year ago, I announced here structural development actions that today are a reality, a fact that makes us proud and motivates us to do more and better”, highlighted the governor.

He spoke about the construction of new school units, duly equipped, to respond to emergency requirements, with emphasis on the University Campus of Catumbela. This structure aggregates all the units of Katyavala Bwila University.

He also referred to the Higher Institute of Educational Sciences (ISCED) which gained new facilities and operating conditions.

Still on Education, he underlined the investment made in general education, with the aim of meeting the needs of the population with regard to the inclusion of more children in the education system.

As for Health, among many achievements, both urban and inland, he highlighted the completion of the Hospital da Baía Farta and the new specialty services at the General Hospital of Benguela, giving as an example the Hemodialysis Center and the construction of numerous health units in the different municipalities.

In terms of basic public infrastructure, the governor referred to emergency works in the cities of Benguela, Lobito, Catumbela and Baía Farta.

In this regard, he spoke about the complete realization of Serpa Pinto avenue, in Benguela, recently inaugurated, as well as the road that gives access to the University Campus, in Catumbela, as well as Sócrates Dáskalos, Salvador Correia and Cerveira Pereira avenues, all in Lobito .

He took the opportunity to thank local businessmen, economic agents and civil society in general, for the partnership with the Provincial Government, which, according to Luís Nunes, has contributed to the growth of the province.

“To everyone who accompanies me on this mission, I want to reiterate my confidence and remember that we are a team, in which everyone has an important role”, he said.

Luís Nunes made a point of stressing that they represent an institution that must be respected and given credibility through professional and technical performance, and, above all, through social and citizenship conduct.

He condemned the action of those who use social networks to attack and discredit people and institutions, with the dissemination of false and slanderous information.

He highlighted the valences of the Lobito Corridor for the country’s economy, with its main structures based in the province of Benguela, such as the Railway and the Commercial Port, in which the container and mineral terminals stand out.
