Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, promulgated, Wednesday, the Amnesty Law recently approved by Parliament and granted a pardon for the sentences.

This is a pardon for prison sentences applied to a group of convicted citizens, in a measure that takes into account the fact that, in a few days, Christmas Day will be celebrated.

In a note, the Press Secretary of the Presidential Palace states that with the decision, the Head of State grants prisoners sentenced to custodial sentences an opportunity for social and family reintegration.

The document informs that for the pardon, the President of the Republic took into account the fulfillment of half of the prison sentence applied.

Still for the pardon, the Statesman also took into account the good behavior of the inmates during the fulfillment of the sentence and the absence of social danger, resulting from the restitution to the freedom of the referred citizens.

The pardon granted by the Angolan Head of State, continues the document, covers convicts from the country’s eighteen provinces.
