Africa-Press – Angola. The working visit of the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, to the Republic of Gabon, at the invitation of his Gabonese counterpart, Ali Bongo Odimba, will serve to reinforce cooperation between the two countries, he said, Wednesday, in Libreville, the minister of Foreign Affairs of Angola, Tete António.

The minister was speaking to the Angolan press moments after his landing in Libreville.

During the stay of the President of the Republic of Angola in the Gabonese capital, two important agreements will be signed, the first on the suppression of visas in diplomatic and service passports and the second on political consultations.

According to Téte António, the suppression of visas for these two documents is the first step. Afterwards, the process can evolve according to the possibility and consideration of the two States.

The head of Angolan diplomacy recalled that the two countries have not held a Bilateral Commission for about 37 years, so the visit of the Angolan statesman could give an impetus for this to happen as soon as possible.

The minister assured that there are more interests between Angola and Gabon in the oil sector, trade, wood production, as well as in the regional framework through the Economic Community of Central African States (CEEAC), currently headed by the Angolan, Gilberto Really. The organization is headquartered in Libreville.

Diplomatic relations between Angola and Gabon were strengthened on May 24, 1982, the date on which the first Angolan ambassador to that country, Dombele Mbala Bernardo, presented the Letters of Credence to the then President of Gabon, Omar Bongo Odimba.
