Angola bets on strengthening cooperation with São Tomé and Príncipe

Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Government Friday, expressed its availability to work with the authorities of São Tomé and Príncipe, with a view to strengthening bilateral cooperation.

This fact was confirmed to the press, in Luanda, by the Prime Minister of São Tomé and Príncipe, Patrice Trovoada, at the end of a private meeting with the Angolan President, João Lourenço.

“São Tomé, at the moment, is experiencing a difficult economic and financial situation”, said the Head of the São Tomé Government, who is in the Angolan capital on a visit for a few hours.

Patrice Trovoada expressed his satisfaction that the Angolan President is “great availability” to work with the Government of São Tomé and Príncipe in the coming months.

The prime minister expressed the desire for his country to have “greater macroeconomic stability” and that “it can guarantee its development and, above all, for the well-being of the population”.

Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe cooperate in the fields of Defence, Oil, Gas and Biofuels.

“The situation is under control”, he said, regarding the events of November 25, when four men attacked, at dawn, an army barracks in São Tomé and Príncipe, which the prime minister considered “an attempted coup ” of State.

On the subject, he made it known that it is being dealt with at the level of Justice, investigation and the Attorney General’s Office and that the results are being awaited serenely.

For the São Tomé official, the most important thing is that the country is calm and the Government is working, above all to find economic, financial and social stability.

As part of the visit, Patrice Trovoada, who is still returning to his country yesterday, laid a wreath on the tomb of the former President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos, in Praça da República.

The former Angolan Head of State died last July 8, in Barcelona, ​​Kingdom of Spain, victim of illness.
