MOVANGOLA/Moxico withdraws from criminal charges against its secretary

Africa-Press – Angola. The Angola Solidarity Support Movement (MOVANGOLA) in Moxico this Saturday distanced itself from criminal accusations against its municipal secretary, Jamba Calichi, indicted for the crime of receiving goods, for allegedly buying electronic materials stolen from a public school .

The accused was recently made a defendant by the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) for allegedly buying one of the 12 computers stolen at Complexo Escolar no 338 “Camarada Tchifutchi” by a citizen, who was also responsible for justice, according to the Criminal Investigation Service ( SIC) in Mexico.

In another case, according to SIC, the accused was also sentenced by the Moxico Provincial Court to 10 days in prison, with a suspended sentence, after being subjected to summary judgment, for the crime of disobedience and resistance at the time of his arrest.

In a press release, MOVANGOLA distances itself from the alleged criminal acts, due to the fact that the referred computer never benefited the interests of the organisation.

The note adds that on the date of the facts the accused was not performing the function of municipal secretary of the Movement in Moxico.

“The computer presumably was purchased in 2020 for personal purposes and not for the organization,” the statement reads.

After being heard by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the defendant complies with the personal coercion measure of identity and residence term, with an obligation to present himself, regularly, while the proceedings are in progress.
