Africa-Press – Angola. Three thousand and 500 conventional water meters are being installed in different districts of the municipalities of Ombadja, Cuanhama and Namacunde, in order to put an end to the payment of water by estimate.
The information was provided this Thursday by the Technical Administrator of the Cunene Water and Sanitation Company, Evangelisto Kamati, noting that the process started in October and will run until the end of the first quarter of 2023.
He made it known that the installation of meters covers, in a first phase, the replacement of damaged meters and residences with direct connection processes.
Evagelisto Kamati clarified that due to the lack of equipment, the company made several connections without meters in the last two years, where customers paid for consumption by estimate.
The person in charge highlighted the advantage of installing this equipment as it makes it possible to make the amount charged correspond to actual consumption, regulate water consumption and improve revenue collection levels.
“These meters will make it possible to increase revenues, give confidence to the customer who starts to pay for what he actually consumes by reading the meter, as well as assessing technical losses”, he concluded.
The Cunene Water Company controls 10,000 consumers, distributed across the municipalities of Ombadja, Cuanhama and Namacunde.
