Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, leaves the Angolan capital on Friday (30) for Brasília, capital of the Federative Republic of Brazil, on an official mission.

According to the secretary of the President of the Republic for Institutional and Press Affairs, Luís Fernando, the head of state leaves Luanda to attend the invitation to be present at the investiture ceremony of the elected President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in a ceremony that takes place on Sunday, January 1, 2023.

He adds that the act, which will restore Lula da Silva to the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil, will basically have three moments, the first being in the National Congress, which will be followed by another in the Presidential Palace (Palácio do Planalto) and, finally, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty Palace).

Technical cooperation between Angola and Brazil began to take shape in 1980 with the signing of the Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation Agreement, on the 11th of June of that year.

Under this agreement, Angola and Brazil developed cooperation in the areas of health, culture, public administration, professional training, education, environment, sports, statistics and agriculture.

Brazil was the first country to recognize Angola’s independence.
