Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, left Luanda, today (Friday), bound for Brasília, capital of the Federative Republic of Brazil, on an official mission.

At the “4 de Fevereiro” International Airport, in Luanda, the Angolan Head of State received farewell greetings from the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, assistants to the Executive and senior officials from his office.

In Brasilia, the Head of State will attend the investiture ceremony of the President-elect of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in an act that will take place on Sunday, January 1, 2023.

The act will have three moments, the first being at the National Congress, which will be followed by another at the Presidential Palace (Palácio do Planalto) and, finally, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Palacio do Itamaraty).

Technical cooperation between Angola and Brazil began to take shape in 1980 with the signing of the Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation Agreement, on the 11th of June of that year.

Under this agreement, Angola and Brazil developed cooperation in the areas of health, culture, public administration, professional training, education, environment, sports, statistics and agriculture.

Brazil was the first country to recognize Angola’s independence.
