Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, sent this Sunday a message of condolences to Pope Francis, in which he regrets the death of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, which took place on Saturday (31), in Rome.

In the missive, published on the Presidency of the Republic page, the Angolan Head of State refers to having received with great regret the news of the death of Pope Emeritus, Benedict XVI.

“The Catholic Church and the world in general lose a figure who made a significant contribution to the positive and remarkable role in the world”, expresses President João Lourenço in the missive.

In the document, the Angolan Head of State also expressed the contribution of the Catholic Church in favor of “a humanism that is increasingly necessary in these times, in the relationship between peoples, nations and individuals”.

In the message of condolences, the President of the Republic presented, on behalf of the Angolan Executive, and in his own name, the “deepest and most heartfelt condolences” to Pope Francis and to Catholics around the world.

Pope Benedict XVI died at the age of 95, in the Mater Ecclesiae monastery, victim of illness.
