Africa-Press – Angola. One hundred 47 thousand 819, 404 cubic meters of granite of different species, were exported from Huíla, in 2022, to the country’s main markets, against 67 thousand 997, 29 cubic meters of ore, in the same period in 2021.
These are markets such as China, Taiwan, Spain, Italy and recently the United Arab Emirates, Georgia and France.
Among the companies that most exported granite were Angostone, Hipermáquinas (HM Granitos), Shalon, DFG-África and Rupsil & Filhos.
The information was released, Monday, in Lubango, by the head of the Mineral Resources department of the provincial office for integrated economic development in Huíla, Cláudio da Mata.
Without advancing the amount collected, the source pointed out that in 2022 173,694.88 cubic meters of ore were produced and in 2021 114,985.29 cubic meters were produced, explored in the municipalities of Chibia and Gambos.
Cláudio da Mata said that with the pandemic that devastated the country for two years, there was a greater attraction of international markets, because the countries that traditionally export were closed and Angola, with more opportunities, and exports increased.
“The United Arab Emirates have also joined the race to import Angolan granite, but China is still the main destination for this mineral resource, which comes mainly from Huíla province”, he considered.
According to the official, Huíla is currently the biggest producer of ornamental stones in the country and satisfies the sector, with a registered increase both in terms of production and exports, in recent years.
The province of Huíla has more than 30 licensed companies that operate in the mineral resources sector, among which are 18 in the exploration of ornamental rocks and the rest are mineral water, gold, crushers, sandpit, ceramic material and agro-mineral .
