Africa-Press – Angola. The Angola-Brazil Joint Commission meets between the months of March and April of the current year, to boost cooperation relations between the two States.
The information was provided, this Tuesday, in Brasília (Brazil), by the Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, after a meeting with his Brazilian counterpart, Mauro Vieira.
At the meeting “the agenda for the coming months was examined”, the Angolan official told the press, at the Itamaraty Palace, headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil.
Without going into details, he informed that the meeting would take place in Brasilia, adding that more details on the areas of cooperation to be discussed would be given at the right time.
Téte António praised the “profitable” and “profitable” relations between the two countries, stressing that the ties between Angola and Brazil extend to the respective peoples, hence the responsibility of ensuring that the decisions of the said “Commission are translated into acts concrete”.
For his part, the head of Brazilian diplomacy, Mauro Vieira, considered Angola a friendly country and “a great partner” in cooperation relations.
He underlined that the partnership with Angola goes beyond institutional issues. “These are personal relationships and between peoples”, he stressed.
Angola and Brazil have cooperated since 1977
The first memorandum of cooperation between the governments of the two countries was signed in 1977, two years after the proclamation of Angola’s independence, in 1975.
Since then, relations in the most varied domains have been deepened, culminating in the signing of 80 cooperation agreements.
Among the understandings, those related to agriculture, energy, immigration, animal/vegetable health, education, health, technical cooperation and diplomatic consultations stand out.
Angola and Brazil also cooperate in the areas of science, technology, culture, fisheries, oil, environment, communication, trade and transport.
Brazil was the first country in the world to recognize Angola’s independence, proclaimed on November 11, 1975.
