Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, and his Brazilian counterpart, Luís Inácio Lula da Silva, maintained a telephone contact this Wednesday, following the meeting in Brasília.
The information was released on the official page of the Angolan Presidency on the Facebook social network, noting that the dialogue was aimed at implementing what was agreed, including holding the Angola-Brazil Joint Commission.
In the telephone conversation, the two Heads of State reiterated their commitment to further develop economic relations between the two countries.
According to the publication, João Lourenço and Lula da Silva also addressed regional issues, within which the President of Brazil reaffirmed his country’s commitment to contribute to the economic development of the African continent.
Angola and Brazil cooperate in the sectors of agriculture, energy, immigration, animal/plant health, education, health, technical cooperation and diplomatic consultations.
The two States also cooperate in the areas of science, technology, culture, fisheries, petroleum, environment, communication, trade and transport.
Brazil was the first country in the world to recognize Angola’s independence, proclaimed on November 11, 1975.
