Africa-Press – Angola. The National Independent Union of Aeronautical and Airport Workers (SNITAA) suspended, early this evening, the strike that started early this Wednesday (24th).
This is a temporary survey of the stoppage of services, due to the signing of a Term of Commitment between SNITAA and the Board of Directors of Empresa Nacional de Navegação Aérea (ENNA).
The document, initialed by orientation of the Ministry of Transport, after a meeting, imposes the immediate satisfaction of one of the points of the Claims and the definition of a timetable for the negotiation or resolution of the others.
In a note, distributed to the Media, “the Union reaffirms its total openness to dialogue and calls on all its affiliates to resume their work activities, with the same zeal and dedication”.
The strike
It consisted of the partial stoppage of some services, starting at 00:00, due to alleged “generalized dissatisfaction with the workers’ demands”, presented in a notebook to the company’s Board of Directors, on 23 May 2022.
It would be for an indefinite period, covering all categories of the operational areas of the Communication, Navigation and Surveillance Services (CNS), the Aeronautical Information Services (AIS), as well as the technical, administrative and management support services of ENNA to National level.
However, according to the president of the National Independent Union of Aeronautical and Airport Workers (SNITAA), Sebastião Adriano de Lemos, the minimum services, for State flights or aircraft, military and medical emergencies would be guaranteed.
Urgent negotiations
After the announcement of the strike, on December 28, 2022, Union and ENNA officials met, Tuesday (3rd), at the Ministry of Transport, in order to consider the strike, but without success.
Afterwards, today the parties sat down again and reached this provisional agreement, which should culminate in the response to all the workers’ complaints contained in the CR.
Speaking to the press, before the last meeting, this Wednesday, the chairman of the Board of Directors of ENNA, Manuel Agostinho Felipe, Júnior, informed that one of the main requirements is health insurance.
He made it known that the contract for the provision of health services to its employees is valued at more than one hundred and ninety million Kwanzas for a period of six months, in a first phase.
This concern, guaranteed the manager, can be answered within 15 days, with the administrative process ongoing.
