Africa-Press – Angola. The Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) will finance, this year, the construction of a fresh fish market, at a cost of 200 million kwanzas in Porto Amboim, Cuanza Sul province.
The construction of the market, which will have a capacity of 60 benches, freezing chambers and other equipment, begins in the first half of this month, with the Municipal Administration of Porto Amboim, as the owner of the work, making available for the initial payment the value of Kz 30 million.
The municipality of Porto Amboim had, in the last two years, a capture of more than 10 thousand tons of different fish, involving artisanal and semi-industrial fishing.
The municipal administrator of Porto Amboim, Maria Sumano, confirmed that the assignment of the work will take place on the 9th of January, as the project has already been approved and a quota of 15 percent has been allocated for the initial payment.
“In the same vein, we have a market for the sale of dried fish in progress, which had a financial rebalancing of around 25 percent. Both markets will ensure the convenience of sellers as well as the quality of the fish,” he said.
The dried fish market is budgeted at Kz 40,583,400 and has a financial execution of 70 percent (Kz 28,470,000).
PIIM in 2022
The municipality of Porto Amboim had, in 2022, a portfolio of seven PIIM projects and registered a physical execution of 82 percent and a financial execution of 83 percent. The value of the contract is Kz two billion, 798 million, 265 thousand, 234.01 cents and Kz 182 million, 113 thousand and 400 remains to be paid.
The municipal administrator of Porto Amboim said that in 2022 the education sector inserted 1,500 students, as a result of the completion of two schools with seven classrooms each, in the 4 de Fevereiro neighborhoods (budget at 121 million, 136 thousand, 483, 62 cents) and in the commune of Capolo (Kz 87 million, 970 thousand, 985, 56 cents) both paid in full.
The operation of cleaning and basic sanitation services was 100 percent, paid for Kz 259 million, 639 thousand, 500, which allowed, according to the source, the acquisition of a tractor, a backhoe, a crane truck with basket among other equipment.
In the health sector, two projects stand out, the operationalization of health services, with a payment of 100 percent, in the amount of 29 million, 507 thousand, 500 thousand, while the construction of the Municipal Hospital in progress is under responsibility of the Ministry of Health, included in the PIIM, but financed through the Development Support Expenditure (DAD).
In the area of communication routes, the asphalt carpet was laid in the urban area and work on ditches and curbs is ongoing, with a physical execution of 85 percent and financial execution of 100 percent (Kz two billion 59 million, 427 thousand, 364, 83 cents).
Maria Sumano stressed that the completion of the PIIM projects aims to create conditions for teaching and learning in the field of education and better accommodation for teachers, as well as improving the movement of people and goods in the urban area, the business environment (fish market) , medical assistance and medication.
