Africa-Press – Angola. The proposal for the General State Budget for the financial year of 2023 (OGE-2023) will be discussed and voted, in general terms, at the 3rd Extraordinary Plenary Meeting of the National Assembly (AN), scheduled for the 13th of this month.

The information was provided to the press this Friday by the 4th secretary of the AN, Rosa Branca, at the end of the conference of parliamentary leaders, chaired by the president of Parliament, Carolina Cerqueira.

Exceptionally, due to the holding of the last elections (August 2022), as established by Law No. 24/12, of August 22, the elected holder of the Executive Branch sends the final proposal of the State Budget to the National Assembly, regarding the subsequent fiscal year , until the 15th of December, as it happened.

The 2023 OGE proposal, with expenditures and revenues estimated at 20.1 billion kwanzas, was delivered by the Executive to Parliament on December 9, 2022.

The Minister of State for Economic Coordination, Manuel Nunes Júnior, who delivered the document, said at the time that the 2023 State Budget proposal will fundamentally fulfill two objectives, specifically the “continuation of the country’s economic growth and the continuation prudent budgetary management”.

The proposal, which prioritizes the social sector with a weight of 23.9 percent over total OGE expenditure, estimates a reference price of US$75 per barrel of oil and an average oil production of 1.18 million barrels per day.

Budget Execution Reports

On the 12th of this month, the AN plenary, which includes all the deputies in office, will discuss and vote on the draft resolutions of the State Budget execution reports for the 1st and 2nd Quarters of 2022.

During the 2nd Extraordinary Plenary Meeting of the 1st Legislative Session of the V Legislature, it is also planned to discuss and vote on the draft resolution for the replacement of a Counselor Judge of the Constitutional Court, designated by the National Assembly.

Of the 220 deputies of the Angolan Parliament, 124 are from the MPLA and 90 from UNITA, while the PRS, FNLA and PHA have two parliamentarians each, elected in the elections of 24 August 2022.
