Africa-Press – Angola. Community and Health Development Agents (ADECOS), from Cuanhama municipality, Cunene province, finished, this Monday, the training seminar on the municipalization of social action.

A total of 30 agents were trained, from the municipalities of Ondjiva, Môngua, Evale, Nehone and Oshimolo, who are able to help families to participate actively in the community development process.

The training, which lasted 21 days, aimed to provide agents with the necessary tools for registering, protecting and monitoring vulnerable families.

ADECOS assimilated materials on associativism and cooperativism in communities, integrated system of social action, mapping of micro areas, registration of families, community development and approach to gender and domestic violence.

Topics included protection from malaria, HIV and tuberculosis, childhood vaccination, breastfeeding, diarrheal diseases, water hygiene and aspects linked to the Social Action Management Information System (SIGAS).

At the end of the seminar, the director of Social Action, Family and Gender Equality in Cunene, Georgina Braga, highlighted the role to be played by ADECOS in identifying the population’s problems.

He said that the intention is to bring basic and social services closer to citizens, promoting a decentralized operational model and a service closer to citizens, families and the community.

The official recommended greater interaction between the ADECOS and traditional authorities, assuming with responsibility the functions to be carried out for the benefit of the most vulnerable people.

The municipality of Cuanhama has 360 thousand and 491 inhabitants, distributed in five communes.
