Africa-Press – Angola. Volume 1 of the collection “The Bantu in the vision of Mafrano”, by the Angolan writer and ethnologist Maurício Francisco Caetano, will be presented on February 1st, in São Tomé and Príncipe.
The posthumous presentation of the collection will be a partnership between the Union of Writers of São Tomé and Príncipe, the House of Culture and the Faculty of Sciences and Technologies of the University of São Tomé and Príncipe.
According to a press release, the launch will take place in the auditorium of the Faculty of Sciences and Technologies, and the occasion will be used to pay a posthumous tribute to Canon José Pereira da Costa Frota (1896 – 1954) , priest born in São Tomé and Príncipe and tutor of Maurício Francisco Caetano.
The first release of Volume 1 of the Collection “The Bantu in the vision of Mafrano” took place on May 14, 2022, in Luanda, at the Extension of the Catholic University.
Canon José Frota died in Angola a few months before his 75th birthday.
Maurício Francisco Caetano, born in Dondo, province of Cuanza-Norte, on December 24, 1916, died on July 25, 1982.
The book «The Bantu in the vision of Mafrano» was edited by the author’s family from texts scattered in the Catholic newspaper «O Apostolado», between the years 1957 and 1982.
The work is part of a collection to be published in three volumes.
