INACOM prioritizes increasing the quality of communications

Africa-Press – Angola. Increasing the quality and access to communications services is identified as one of the priorities of the new Board of Directors of the Angolan Institute of Communications (INACOM), in the short or medium term.

According to the chairman of the INACOM Board of Directors, Joaquim Muhongo, this institution will continue to work towards the creation of a regulatory environment that meets the interests of consumers and operators in the electronic communications market.

Speaking to the press, following the swearing-in of his and the executive directors of this company, the PCA considered the current moment in the telecommunications market to be healthy, taking into account the competitive environment existing in the country.

On the occasion, the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira, recalled that the country intends to become a “regional telecommunications hub”, in which INACOM will play a very important role in regulating this subsystem.

He also pointed out the expansion of the sector’s services throughout the national territory as another challenge that will need the contribution of the regulatory entity of telecommunications, information technology and social communication service providers.

“In view of the sector’s various challenges, a strong regulator is needed that meets the interests of Angolans and companies”, he underlined.

Therefore, he encouraged those in office to work as a team, as well as defend the laws and the ecosystem of telecommunications and information technology, with a view to providing a quality service and transforming the country into a technological modernization.

The swearing in of the members of INACOM’s Board of Directors results from the recent appointment of the new cast of this body, made by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.

As a result, Joaquim Muhongo was sworn in as chairman of the Board of Directors of INACOM, while Francisco Quininga, Ana de Matos, Ângelo João and Paulo Paiva took over as executive directors, respectively.

Tutored by the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, INACOM’s mission is to advise and represent the Angolan Executive, through the regulation, supervision and inspection of the communications sector, ensuring the quality of service in an environment of healthy competition.
