Africa-Press – Angola. The various mechanisms for strengthening cooperation between the Angolan Ombudsman and the European Union (EU) were under analysis this Tuesday, in Luanda, during an audience that the ombudsman, Florbela Araújo, granted to the head of the delegation European in the country, Jeanette Seppen.

Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting, ambassador Jeanette Seppen said that it was of great interest to the EU, despite the existence of a strong partnership, within the framework of which human rights assume a strong inclination.

“The Ombudsman plays a very important role and, for this reason, we are seeing the possibility of working more within the framework of cooperation”, he said.

The Ombudsman, Florbela Araújo, referred that it served to approach the institution’s role, with emphasis on the issue of the most vulnerable and training of the institution’s technicians.

Hence, according to the Ombudsman “we will continue to work to see the possibility of strengthening this partnership”.

On the other hand, he stressed that one of the institution’s challenges, at the moment, is related to the expansion of the provincial services of the Ombudsman’s Office throughout the mandate so that citizens can benefit from this right.

The Ombudsman’s Office is a body whose mission is to defend the rights, freedoms and guarantees of citizens, ensuring, through informal means, justice and the legality of the activity of the Public Administration.
