Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, left the country, this Thursday (16), bound for the city of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to participate in the 36th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) , taking place Saturday and Sunday.
At the “4 de Fevereiro” International Airport, in Luanda, accompanied by the first lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, the Angolan Head of State received farewell greetings from the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, members of the Executive and senior officials from your office.
In Addis Ababa, President João Lourenço’s agenda foresees, in the days leading up to the Summit, audiences with different personalities, focusing on addressing issues related to peace in Africa, as well as others on politics and international diplomacy.

The 36th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the AU has as one of the main points on the agenda the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement (AfCFTA).
The Summit’s work also includes aspects related to security on the continent and the application of Agenda 2063.
This year the Summit will be held under the motto “Accelerating the Implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area”.
