Africa-Press – Angola. The implementation of the main structuring projects programmed in the MPLA’s electoral manifest for the development of Moxico will start soon, informed, this Friday, in the municipality of Luau, the first provincial secretary of the party, Ernesto Muangala.
When intervening in a political act that took place in the border municipality of Luau, the leader reiterated that the government, supported by the MPLA, will fulfill the electoral promises referring to the five-year period (2022/2027).
The also governor of Moxico guaranteed that the problems of communication routes will start to be solved, highlighting the construction, in two years, of the National Road EN250, which connects the municipalities of Lumeje/Luacano/Luau, in a section of 156 kilometres.
According to the politician, the engineering and construction company AFAVIAS, which will carry out the aforementioned project, valued at 208 million, 903 thousand, 963 euros (1 Euro equals 537.17 euros), with funding from Caixa Geral de Depósitos, has already visited the municipality do Luau to project the beginning of the undertaking.
This undertaking, he said, will be accompanied by the completion of the road between Marco 25 (Luau) and the town of Cazombo, Alto Zambeze municipality, over a 192 kilometer route, he said.
Press knows that this undertaking will cost US$276 million, with funding from the British bank based in London, Standard Chartered.
He underlined that this mandate the government will dedicate greater attention to the construction of roads in the province, whose high point will be the link between the coast and the east, with the construction of the Cuito (Bié)/Luena/Luau (Moxico) road.
This project, to be carried out by the engineering company Noráfrica, with financing from the German bank Deutsche Bank, will cost 176 million and 527 thousand euros.
Regarding the municipality of Luau, Ernesto Muangala said that in the second quarter of this year it could benefit from the reopening of the municipal hospital, with 97 percent completed, whose capacity has been increased to 108 beds, including new services.
To reinforce medical assistance in this unit, he said that expatriate doctors from neighboring countries are expected to be hired, with emphasis on the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Zambia.
In terms of education, he said that in this five-year period, a Medium Polytechnic Institute will be built in the region to meet the need for technical courses by the younger population, which will join the Medium Agrarian Institute already in operation.
On the occasion, Ernesto Muangala called for national unity and cohesion within the population to strengthen the foundations of the country’s reconstruction.
Luau is one of the nine municipalities that make up the province of Moxico, has 112,000 inhabitants (2014 Census) and is located 334 kilometers east of the city of Luena.
