Africa-Press – Angola. Exchange of experience and sports massification stand out in the action program of the Olympic Academy of Portuguese Speaking African Countries (AAOPALOP), whose objective is to bring the region closer through this social aspect.

According to the first president of AAOPALP, Sara Tavares, who was speaking to the press this Friday, the two tools (exchange of experience and massification) are among the major challenges, in addition to publicizing activities in the five member countries on the continent.

During the inauguration, at the Sports Gallery, in Luanda, the also president of the Angolan Olympic Academy said that the strategy for greater dissemination of Olympism is exchange between member states.

Sara Tavares recognized that there has always been absenteeism among the five countries in terms of Olympic policies, and the creation of the organization will provide greater approximation in accordance with the objective of uniting peoples through sport.

For this undertaking, the Angolan will have the Mozambican Alberto Graziano, as secretary general, while Orlando Mascarenhas (Cape Verde) as Member. Tiago Oncorés, from Guinea-Bissau, is an alternate member.

The direction of AAOPALOP will have a short duration until 2024, in compliance with the Olympic cycle, giving rise to the realization in 2025 of the second electoral process.

Portuguese-Speaking African Countries is the name given to a regional cooperation group that brings together African states that have Portuguese as an official language.

Also known as Lusophone Africa, the group is composed of the five original members – Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and São Tomé and Príncipe plus Equatorial Guinea, which joined the group later.
