Africa-Press – Angola. More than 15,000 kg/month of coffee, produced by the Angolan company VEMS, will begin to be exported, as of March this year, to European markets.

The initiative, which aims to boost the export diversification process and reinforce the country’s image in the diaspora, is the result of a partnership established recently between the Angolan company and the Angola – Spain Chamber of Commerce, according to the director general of VEMS, Vladmir Satula .

The manager, who was speaking during the 2nd edition of the exhibition and parade of jewelry with embedded diamonds from Angola, held Thursday, clarified that the respective exports will be made through the supply of coffee to the international business group AZ, which distributes this product to large shopping centers in Europe.

With an investment of around one billion dollars, this company produced close to one hundred thousand kilograms of coffee in the 2022 campaign, which corresponded to approximately eight exportable containers.

In this period, advanced the source, the revenue obtained was around 50% return.

Within his 2022/2027 strategic plan, the businessman plans to expand his production to around one million kilos/year and reach other international markets in this period.

VEMS, which has Spain, Italy, Sweden, Japan and China as the main destinations for its production, is dedicated to the cultivation, packaging and export of Arabica and Robusta coffee, two main varieties most consumed in the foreign market.

According to the director-general, the Arabica variety is known as the “champagne of coffee”, as it has a smoother taste and is much sought after by consumers in the Middle East, adapting to the climatic characteristics of this region.

According to Vladmir Satula, Angolan coffee arouses the interest of international consumers because it has a unique flavor, making the difference between other types, a fact that serves as an opportunity for Angola to accelerate the process of diversifying its exports and increase the collection of foreign exchange for the country.

Still on the path of partnerships, the official made it known that recently VEMS established an agreement with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Angola – United Arab Emirates, with the aim of creating a pole/centre for the integrated development of Angolan coffee.

According to the manager, this initiative will make it possible to directly market and export the product of all actors in the coffee value chain (family and business producers), without exclusivity or preference of producers.

He referred that this partnership is well advanced and is expected to be concluded on March 15 this year, in Dubai.

In the same vein, the company has a logistics distribution center in Portugal, in addition to a partnership with South Korea, through the BK business group.

However, Vladmir Satula points to the lack of specific manufacturing units to produce packaging and containers for packaging coffee as one of the challenges the company faces.

VEMS is a company incorporated under Angolan law, with more than seven years of experience, which started its activity in the agriculture sector, specifically in the production of coffee, in the village of Pambos, municipality of Bungo, province of Uíge. Currently, it also produces both varieties of coffee in Cuanza Norte.

To carry out coffee production, the company has a workforce of more than 21 native employees.
