Africa-Press – Angola. Journalist Paulina Kakonga, from the Provincial Delegation of Public Television of Angola (TPA) in Zaire, won, this Friday, the Journalist of the Year Award, from the Forum of Women Journalists for Gender Equality.
The professional was distinguished with a work that portrays the life of a rural woman, selling ginguba.
Through this activity, the saleswoman changed the lives of her family and her community, in the city of Mbanza Congo, commune of Humpala, province of Zaire.
The winner received from the hands of the Secretary of State for Social Communication, Nuno Caldas, a check valued at one million kwanzas and a certificate of merit.
On the occasion, Paulina Kangola said she was happy to win the award, which she dedicated to all Angolan journalists, especially her colleagues from Zaire and the female class in the sector.
During the event, the journalist Josefa Lamberga was also awarded the Career Prize.
The same, received from the hands of the Secretary of State for the Family and Promotion of Women, Alcina Kindanda, a check valued at one million kwanzas and certificates of merit.
On the occasion, the journalist said that the award represents a little bit of almost all Angolan journalists.
“I’m not the best, there are many good journalists in this immense Angola and many other women to be honored, so this award, this recognition is ours”, she concluded.
On the occasion, Secretary of State Nuno Caldas encouraged the Forum to continue to recognize journalists, because these initiatives will encourage the class to do their best.
The award, which is now in its third edition, aims to encourage journalists to carry out investigative reports or deeper approaches to the social reality of communities and the social inclusion of women, as a way of encouraging discussion of these issues and the search for solutions. .
The Forum of Women Journalists for Gender Equality (FMJIG) is an Angolan civil society organization, which brings together women journalists from public and private media.
It was founded in 2009, with the aim of carrying out actions to combat domestic violence and gender-based violence, in addition to seeking respect for women’s rights.
